It doesn&#8217;t appear to have quite the functionality of the others and it remains to be seen if copy\/paste and graphics are manageable but it is nonetheless a good idea to install it to allow snapshots and proper shutdown, the official KB is here <a href=\"https:\/\/pve.proxmox.com\/wiki\/Qemu-guest-agent\">https:\/\/pve.proxmox.com\/wiki\/Qemu-guest-agent<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Linux you simply install the agent from your repositories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Debian this would use aptitude<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>sudo apt update\nsudo apt install qemu-guest-agent<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>On Red Hat and Fedora use yum<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>yum update\nyum install qemu-guest-agent<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>You then start the agent and enable it using systemctl<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>systemctl start qemu-guest-agent\nsystemctl enable qemu-guest-agent<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>You MUST also enable it on each VM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the VM and go to <strong>Options<\/strong> > <strong>QEMU Guest Agent <\/strong>> <strong>Edit<\/strong> > tick the &#8220;<strong>Use QEMU Agent<\/strong>&#8221; box > click <strong>OK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1526\" height=\"609\" src=\"https:\/\/vroamam.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vroamam.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-5.png 1526w, https:\/\/vroamam.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-5-1000x399.png 1000w, https:\/\/vroamam.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-5-768x306.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1526px) 100vw, 1526px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Screenshot showing QEMU Agent options<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The VM MUST be completely shutdown for this to take effect. I tried a reset\/reboot and it didn&#8217;t apply, it has to be powered off.
